Frequently asked questions.

Will the entry form look like my store, or like a third-party widget?

Like your store. The form renders through your live theme at your own URL — yourstore.com/apps/draw/the-drop-name — so it inherits your fonts, colours, header and footer. There's no iframe, no hosted landing page, and no theme code to edit. Customers won't know it's an app unless you tell them.

How are winners actually chosen?

At random, by the database, at the moment the draw closes. If your product has variants, each one is drawn independently — the size 10 pool and the size 11 pool are separate draws, so a flood of entries on one size can't affect another. You decide how many winners come from each variant when you set the draw up.

What happens if a winner doesn't pay?

Their invoice expires at the deadline you set, and the app immediately draws a replacement from the same variant pool and invoices them. Before that, winners get a reminder at the halfway point of their window and a last-chance notice near the end. You choose how many times a slot can be redrawn, or turn redraws off entirely and handle those slots yourself.

How does bot protection work?

Every entry is scored automatically as it arrives — there's nothing to review by hand. Scoring draws on several independent categories: hidden traps in the form, how the submission behaves, network patterns, email reputation, and the quality of the data itself. Signals are weighted rather than pass/fail, so one weak signal won't disqualify a real customer, but several stacking together will. Each entry lands in one of four tiers — Low, Medium, High or Critical — and Critical entries are held out of the draw by default. Nothing is ever deleted: filtered entries sit in their own tab alongside the reasons they were flagged, and you can reinstate any of them in a click. They're also excluded from your Klaviyo sync, so you don't pay to store fake profiles. Growth and Pro can tune how aggressive the filter is.

Can someone enter more than once?

No. Each draw accepts one entry per email address and one per phone number, so the obvious duplicates are rejected at the door. Everyone who enters has identical odds — there are no bonus or weighted entries.

What's the difference between a Draw and a Giveaway?

A Draw is a lottery for something people pay for: winners receive a Shopify invoice at the normal price and buy the item. A Giveaway is free — winners get an invoice for $0 that they check out to claim, which is how the shipping address and order are captured. Both run the same way underneath, including the claim deadline, the reminders, and the automatic redraw if a winner never claims. Giveaways are on every plan, including Lite at $9/mo; product draws start on Starter.

Do entrants get a confirmation email?

No — they get an immediate confirmation on the page after submitting, and then hear nothing until there's something to say. Winners are emailed through Shopify's own invoice system, from your store, so it arrives looking like every other email you send. We never email your customers from our domain.

Do I need Klaviyo to use this?

No, and it's included on every plan rather than being an upgrade. When it's connected, only entrants who ticked the marketing opt-in are synced, and entries flagged as bot risk are held back. Draw activity is recorded as events on profiles rather than as list additions, which keeps it from inflating the profile count your Klaviyo bill is based on. Without it you still get Shopify customer tagging and full CSV export.

How many draws can I run at the same time?

That's two separate limits. Each plan has a monthly budget for how many draws you publish, and a cap on how many run simultaneously: Starter is 1 a month, Growth is 3 a month with 2 at once, and Pro is 10 a month with 5 at once. Drafts don't count toward either — build as many as you like and publish when you're ready. Lite covers giveaways only.

Does this work outside the US?

Not yet. Entry forms validate US phone numbers, and giveaway shipping collects a US address, so international entrants will hit a wall. If you're outside the US, wait for us rather than installing — get in touch and we'll tell you when that changes.

Is this compliant with no-purchase-necessary raffle laws?

It's built with that in mind: entering is always free, winners buy at their own choice, and giveaways display "No purchase necessary" on the form. That said, raffle and lottery rules vary by state and country and they change. For high-value prizes, or anything running across borders, talk to a lawyer about your specific case.

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

Uninstalling immediately cuts our access to your store and starts a 48-hour window, after which every entry, winner and draw record we hold for your shop is permanently deleted. The short delay exists so an accidental uninstall — or a reinstall an hour later — doesn't destroy a live draw. Entrant IP addresses are separately anonymised 90 days after a draw ends, whether you uninstall or not.

What Shopify permissions does the app ask for, and why?

Seven, and no more: read products (to pick the product you're drawing), read locations (for in-store pickup), read and write customers (to apply entry and winner tags), read and write draft orders (to create and send winner invoices), and app proxy access (to serve the entry form on your domain). It cannot read your orders, edit your products, or see any payment data.
